It all began in New York City. As a native New Yorker I was raised in a city full of hotdog carts on almost every street corner. And of course who doesn't love condiments on their hotdog? Mustard, relish, ketchup, and of course, onions. Not just regular old onions but onions in a tomato-based sauce smothered over your hotdog creating a wonderful flavor.
After getting married and moving away from New York I soon discovered that this sauce that was so common in my childhood wasn't able to be found outside of that region. My only option was to make my own version of my favorite onion sauce.
Over the years I played around with the recipe, creating my own onion sauce for special occasions and parties. No matter who tried it they all loved it. So, I kept tweaking the recipe to make it better and tastier....
Bringing it to the general public
... As the years passed people continued to enjoy the sauce that I made more and more. As the flavors become bolder and better. Friends, family, co-workers, and strangers all loved it and wanted to know how I made it. It wasn't just good on hotdogs but on eggs, burgers, sandwiches, and it made a great dip for chips of all kinds. It was more than a simple single-use product, it had versatility. Adding great flavors to everything it was put on or in.
An injury at work left me with life-altering choices to make. What was I going to do now? That's when it hit me, it was time to bring my sauce to the public at large. I loved making it, I loved eating it, and everyone else who had it loved it too. So, with that in mind, I started the Apple Onion Company LLC with my wife.
